Check out the Interview with DJ Desh

1.Where are you from?
I'm from Quito, Ecuador in South America.

2.How did you become a DJ?
From a really early age, I was always fascinated by the turn tables and wanted to play with them! My cousin's friend was a DJ and I thought this would be an amazing thing to do. I always dreamed of being a DJ as a child. Then in 1991 when I moved to London, I started deejaying and invested in equipment back in 2000. By 2004, I decided to leave my full time job and become a professional DJ. It was the best thing I ever did!

3.What's the best part of being a DJ?
Travelling to so many different places and meeting amazing new people. And what really makes it one of the most special jobs in the world - which gives me a total buzz - is having the ability to get people dancing and into a complete pleasure zone!

4.Where in the world have you deejayed?
Everywhere from London, Leeds, and Bristol to Poland, Sweden, Spain and back home in Ecuador.

5.What are your career highlights so far?
Having this new residency at El Barrio! I was only planning on being here for a weekend, which turned into two months and now I'll be here for a year - getting the Latino party into full swing at El Barrio! I love it here - it's an amazing venue and a fantastic city. A past highlight was deejaying at the Orange World Music Festival in Poland, by the beach to a crowd of over 5000! Incredible!!

6.What sort of music can people to expect to hear at El Barrio Nightclub?
I'll be playing Latin, Reggaeton and Latin house fused with chart, Dance and RnB. My focus will be getting people into the full on party spirit that El Barrio represents. I've also got new remixes that you won't have heard before plus new, exciting record labels from Colombia, Puerto Rico, Miami and London – all really hot music for everyone at El Barrio to get down and party to.

7.What's your favourite track of all time?
Billy Jean by Michael Jackson. It's one of those great tracks that get's everyone onto the dance floor and now we've got an excellent merengue version of it!!

8.What's the tune that gets everyone up on the dance floor at the moment?
Room Service by "Pitbull".

9.What else should people know about El Barrio Nightclub?
We'll soon be launching a new night on Thursdays called 'Urban Latino' which will be hot, hot, hot! I'll be deejaying and mixing my music with the music videos and we've got a respected MC coming over from LA. Just watch this space. This will be a club night in the Latino calendar NOT to be missed.
